Giudecca 795

On the occasion of the Biennale di Venezia, the artist Neil Harbisson presents his eyeborg and his sonochromatic works at Giudecca 795. Born with a rare visual condition, Harbisson sees the world in shades of gray, but he has overcome his condition by creating a device that allows him to hear colors. Harbisson, who is Catalan, Irish and British, defines himself as a cyborg, because of his third eye being permanently attached to his head and because of the new sense created by the union between his brain and the software. The Eyeborg - a device created by Harbisson with the help of a Cybernetic researcher - has become an exciting new door to the world of art and music. With this device Harbisson translates color into sound and viceversa.
Neil Harbisson presents at Giudecca 795 his "Sound Portraits" of celebrities, (also giving the audience to have their own sound portrait expressly made), and the "Sonochromatics, chromatic expression of famous music pieces (customised Sonochromatics of favourite music, or speech, can also be realised).
